Ahh, excuse the weeds (I can just hear my mom's diatribe about nothing making her as crazy as lazy in the background) but aren't those lovely peppers. When they get red, we're going to have amazing salsa!

Melons melons everywhere! I can't believe the melon explosion this week, since it cooled off!

This is the most amazing thing, though. Squash next to the porch! We had started seeds in containers and they were blown all over the place at the beginning of the season, so now we're getting a squash plant right here next to the porch. Isn't it beautiful?

fruits and veggies....in the FALL??

Remember when we planted all those seeds we started that blew off the porch and got all mixed up? Well, lookie what we found mixed in with the watermelons (that started setting fruit THIS MONTH...whoever heard of watermelons in September?!?)

Aren't these bright and yummy looking? We're sun drying the little ones, that's why they look like tiny raisins.

Now we're to the cantaloupes. They have gone CRAZY setting fruit in the last two weeks. We have more growing than we'll be able to eat. I'm going to trade some of them for habenero peppers from a friend's garden! The girls have been so excited watching these get heavier by the day.

the big girls plant, too!

Elizabeth and Abbi are planting tomatoes and peppers. The rest of the plants are being started over by the porch in those same little seed starting dealies that Evelyn is planting over in that other corner.

Abbi planted these peppers, herself. They will be GREAT in Andrew's salsa!

Not just a box of dirt :D

Doesn't everyone garden in all their finery? Her highness, Evelyn, wouldn't have it any other way. She is pictured here putting in her peas and cilantro. She is already begging to go get the trellis for the peas, even though they are just peaking their little heads up through the seedling cups.

getting started

It all started with a bored homeschooler. Her mom said to find something to do and then research it, and we'll see if we can make it happen. She found the Square Foot Gardening website and we were off....

See, there's the bored homeschooler with the drill.

Now our box is ready! The girls were joking about the Mommy in the Box, "And if you call now, we'll double your order"

We're really ready to get started, now....stay tuned!
